CROW BRAVE. This picture of the young Crow Brave was probably taken circa 1890. The Apsaroke or Crow were known for their scouting prowess and were a peaceful nation who made extra efforts to co-exist with the white settlers. The Apsaroke were and are the proudest of Indians and were said to excel in stature and bravery. No one surpassed them in their devotion to their tribe and their beliefs. The men or Braves wore hip high leggings, loin cloths and moccasins. Customarily no shirt was worn except for special occasions and ceremonies. The Crow Reservation consists of approximately 2 million acres and is located in Montana.
