Pueblo is the Spanish work for "village." The Spaniards referred to the Indians' compact, terraced, apartment-style adobe dwellings as "pueblos." They also applied this term to the Indians themselves.The Pueblo Indians were farmers who grew corn, pumpkins and beans. Because they remained in one place, they developed complex ways of living, as evidenced by their dwellings.The Zunis were characterized as a peaceful, deeply religious people by the Spanish.The Zuni Pueblo is nestled in a picturesque valley, surrounded by beautiful mesas, about 150 miles southwest of Albuquerque. The main reservation, located in McKinley and Cibola counties in western New Mexico, encompasses about 450,000 acres. The tribe has land holdings in Catron County, New Mexico and Apache County, Arizona, which are not contiguous to the main reservation. This is a one of a kind "original" pen and ink/watercolor
